Hekos Oriental Food fully entrusts logistics to Frigo Group

Hekos Oriental Food and Frigo Group have entered into a full logistics cooperation for transport within the Netherlands. In addition to storage, the logistics service provider in frozen food will from now on take care of all transport of the Asian frozen snacks, exclusive finger food and original spekkoek, which are produced in Broek op Langedijk.

For conditioned transport from the production site in Broek op Langedijk to customers within the Netherlands, Hekos Oriental Food used two logistics service providers until recently. ‘But because of the growth we are experiencing, it was time to make the step to a full cooperation with the Frigo Group,’ says Mark de Jong, who has been responsible within Hekos Oriental Food for procurement, automation and logistics, among other things, for the past two years. “The Frigo Group’s current scale and efficiency are a better match for our size. That’s why we decided to transfer the entire transport to Frigo Group Logistics from now on.”

Cross-docking
Because most of Hekos Oriental Food’s frozen products only spend one or two days in Frigo Nieuw-Vennep’s cold store, the Frigo Group’s Joost van Elderen says the main issue is “cross-docking”. “Essentially, the spring rolls, Bapao and Spekkoeken are not exposed to temperature fluctuations. We make sure the products get to supermarkets and wholesalers as efficiently as possible and still as deep-frozen as when they left the production site in Broek op Langedijk.”

Rapid growth
Van Elderen is pleased with De Jong’s compliments as well as the intensified cooperation. “Now that we take care of all the transport, we can relieve Hekos Oriental Food of logistics on an even larger scale. And thus contribute to the company’s growth, as we do for many customers.” De Jong: “We are growing fast and want to continue that growth in the coming years. We can make good use of the Frigo Group for that.”
