Frigo Group facilitates growth Sparckitchen

Since its launch in 2015, Sparckitchen has been growing steadily. Among other things, the vegan food producer seized the corona period to partly automate its production processes. Frigo Group plays an important role in the storage and distribution of its vegan products.

Popular products in Sparckitchen’s plant-based range include red beet burger, celeriac fennel burger, doner kebab and köfte. “We make everything ourselves, in our FSSC22000-certified facility in the centre of Amsterdam,” explains co-owner Schelte Lettinga. “The ingredients we use are grown sustainably by local farmers. Moreover, we use no soya and no artificial additives and preservatives either. Pure nature, in other words.”
Good restaurants throughout the Netherlands are the main buyers of Sparckitchen’s vegan products. Hospitals are a growth market, according to Lettinga. “Because it contains a lot of protein, our vegan mince in particular is very popular with them.” With an eye on the consumer market, Sparckitchen also recently bought a food truck. Lettinga: “With that, we will visit a number of festivals starting next summer. It is our first step in the B2C field and who knows where it will lead.”

WMS portal
What is certain is that Sparckitchen can rely on Frigo Group as it grows. Lettinga: “We have our own cold store, but its capacity is limited. Once a week a Frigo lorry comes by to transport our products to the cold store in Nieuw-Vennep, where we rent several pallet spaces. Frigo Group Logistics then handles distribution from there to wholesalers, who supply restaurants, butchers and hospitals.”
Lettinga is very satisfied with Frigo Group as a logistics partner. “Thanks to its own WMS portal, I can manage the stock in Nieuw-Vennep in real time from Amsterdam. That works very well. The lines between us and Frigo are very short and direct and their flexibility is a relief. And I don’t think they know the word ‘no’ at Frigo.”
