Mark de Jong of Hekos Oriental Food in Broek op Langedijk:

“Hekos Oriental Food has been a leader for over 45 years when it comes to producing Asian frozen snacks, exclusive finger foods and the original bacon cake. It is a true family business in all respects, founded in 1979 by the father of the current owner. Together with his wife, he started making bacon cakes in a garage box in Broek op Langedijk. With pure, health, convenience and quality as its four pillars, in the decades that followed Hekos Oriental Food grew into what it is today: a household name in the field of exclusive Asian snacks, such as Spring Rolls, Steamed Buns, Bapao’s, Yakitori and Spekkoek, produced as traditionally and sustainably as possible in the Netherlands.

In terms of number of products, number of outlets and number of employees, Hekos Oriental Food is growing rapidly. This growth is not at the expense of the convenience and quality we are known for. We also want to remain a source of inspiration for catering entrepreneurs by following global trends and developments and translating them into innovative and surprising products that enrich the basic range.

The entire Hekos Oriental Food range is produced, frozen and packaged in Broek op Langedijk, after which Frigo Group Logistics takes care of transport to Frigo Nieuw-Vennep. From the cold store in Nieuw-Vennep, Frigo Group then also provides transport to our Dutch customers: the better supermarkets and catering wholesalers.

What I really like is that I have permanent contacts at the Frigo Group. As it should be with a good family business, the lines of communication are short and staff turnover is low, just like with us. Within the Frigo Group, I deal with a few permanent people who know what they are talking about. And who know what we want: that all pallets of our products reach the right customers on time and without fuss.”
