Leo Hoek, managing director of Haringhandel A. Hoek BV:
“Haringhandel A. Hoek also supplies pickles and other types of fish, such as cod and pollack, but I estimate that 95% of our turnover is generated by matje herring. We are one of the bigger players in the Netherlands in that field. Frigo Nieuw-Vennep has played an important role in this for more than a quarter of a century. Approximately 30 percent of all the herring we buy in Denmark and Norway is frozen and stored in the Frigo freezer room, which we reserve year-round. We have 24/7 access to our stock and, depending on the demand, transport a number of pallets several times a week to Katwijk, where we prepare the matje herring for distribution to some 300 retailers.
We are more than satisfied with Frigo Nieuw-Vennep. After all these years, we know exactly what we can expect from each other. Accurate’ is the word that immediately comes to mind when I think of Frigo. On the contrary, there is nothing wrong with the service and the lines are short. It’s just a great company, which fits in well with the high level of quality that we strive for with our herring.
